Description
Most store owners think about backups only after something goes wrong: a hack, accidental product deletion, failure after a module update. Recovery without a current backup may be impossible or cost more than setting up the backup itself.
We configure automatic backup systems for OpenCart and ocStore: daily database and file backup with automatic cloud storage upload and old copy rotation.
Backup System Components
- Daily mysqldump database backup with compression (gzip)
- Store file backup: uploads, config.php, custom files
- Automatic upload to cloud storage: S3, Backblaze B2, Wasabi
- Rotation: 7 daily, 4 weekly, 3 monthly copies retained
- Backup integrity check after each save
- Email notification on backup failure
Recovery
The configured system allows restoring the store to any point in the last 7 days within 15–30 minutes. For critical projects we configure 6-hourly backups with separate rotation.
